As directed by Christian Gorlitz and adapted from the bestselling memoir of the same title by Heinz Strunk, the tragicomedy Fleisch Ist Mein Gemuse (Meat is My Vegetable) follows the darkly comic, coming-of-age saga of Strunk (Maxim Mehmet) in the mid-1980s. As a 24-year-old underdog, Heinz has the odds stacked against him - with a horrid case of acne, a lonely life as a perpetually single young man, and slim financial resources. His prospects improve dramatically, however, with his enlistment in a dynamite band christened "Tiffany's" - a membership that inducts him into a world of booze, sex, money, women, and one of the unhealthiest diets conceivable.
