synopsis
Joan Darling's first directorial effort is this melancholy examination of a love affair between two sensitive college students --based upon Harold Brodsky's short story "Sentimental Education." William Katt plays Elgin Smith, a college hunk who falls for college coed Caroline (Susan Dey). With Caroline, Elgin experiences the euphoria and the pitfalls of an intense college love affair. Mostly the pitfalls, however, since Elgin discovers that Caroline is involved with an older man.
