Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
In the original homeland of the Seljuk Turks, near the source of the Euphrates River in the border country between Turkey and Syria, a young farmer and his wife scratch out a meager existence and try to stave off the attempts of his landlord to take away his land. Landlords in that region often control whole counties, including all the villages therein, and this landlord is no exception. In addition, he has a passion for the farmer's wife, and has tried several times to abduct her. In this tragic film, when the landlord sends someone to beat her husband yet again, the harassment sends the couple over the brink of madness.
