Synopsis by Janiss Garza

The Hardys are a family renowned for their fighting skill, and Lem Hardy (William Farnum) is no exception. He works in a lumber camp, where he falls in love with the owner's daughter, Evie Colby (Dorothy Bernard). Blake, the camp's dishonest superintendent, also wants her. With the help of one of his underlings, Blake steals the company payroll and lays the blame on Hardy. Hardy has no defense and is sent to prison. In his absence, Evie marries Blake. After Hardy has served his time, he becomes a preacher and when his first church service is interrupted by a gang of rowdies, he uses his fists to eject them. The congregation is horrified, and Hardy feels that perhaps his sermons would be better appreciated out West. Blake and Evie, broke because of Blake's gambling and drunkenness, have also gone West. Hardy makes an impression in the town of Red Dog as one tough preacher. Blake is killed, and when Hardy speaks about the Magdalene during a church service, Evie's better nature begins to reawaken.
