Federal Agent (1936)
by Hans J. Wollstein review

A standard G-Man programmer, Federal Agent merely proves how lucky William Boyd was landing the role of Hopalong Cassidy. A rather notorious private life had all but ruined the career of the former silent star, who by 1935 seemed destined to spend eternity in low-budget potboilers. Not that Federal Agent doesn't have its moments and the comeuppance of Don Alvarado is quite chilling and well made. The latter is cast against type, but comes through with flying colors.
