Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
A ship loaded with ammonium nitrate catches fire and is abandoned by its crew at the mouth of the Danube, near the Black Sea. Ammonium nitrate is a chemical fertilizer which is, under certain conditions, highly explosive. The shipboard fire reaches the level of catastrophe and now poses an emergency for the visitors and inhabitants of the region, a popular resort area. In this thriller, a noted explosives expert (George Danica) is called away from his wedding feast to prevent the deaths of many thousands of people. The story of this film is based on a real incident which took place in 1971.
