synopsis
Also known as The Greatest Love, Ingrid Bergman portrays an upper class woman broken by the suicide of her son and suffering the despair of his loss, who goes out into the world--on the advice of a friend--to see the plight of the common man. The suffering she sees causes her to do some things her husband thinks show her mental instability and he has her committed to a mental institution. A grim portrait of a Mother's grief.
