Synopsis by Sandra Brennan
Highly symbolic and probably most meaningful to those with intimacy or an intense interest in Eastern European politics, this Romanian film examines the effects of Communism as it explores the thoughts of noted anthropologist and mythographer Mircea Eliade. While chronicling the ordeal of Adam, a world-class cello player who is detained by the fearsome Securitate and torturously interrogated for possible subversive activities that are never spelled out to him, nor the audience. The story is set in the 1950s.
