Synopsis by Mark Deming

A man who thinks he's stumbled upon a gold mine finds things aren't as glittery as he imagined in this comedy. Freddy (Juan Ignacio Machado) is a well-to-do real estate mogul who is taking a vacation with his tightly wrapped best friend Osvaldito (Fernando Miasnik). When their car breaks down in a small village in the middle of nowhere, Freddy happens upon the El Descanso Hotel, a formerly luxurious hotel that has since fallen into disrepair. Freddy thinks the hotel could be restored to an upscale resort, and he discovers that the owner died without ever declaring an heir. Claiming salvage rights, Freddy hires a group of local bohemians to help restore the hotel to its former glory, most of whom wind up living at the hotel in their off hours. All goes well with renovations at the El Descanso, and Freddy flies in a few friends and some open-minded women for a big party, which Osvaldito is in no mood to enjoy. But things take a turn for the worse when McDonald (Raul Urtizberea), a local lawyer and businessman, challenges Freddy's claim to the property.
