Synopsis
A man looking for a better path in life finds one from an unexpected source in this comedy-drama from filmmaker MatÃas Meyer. Julien (Julien Cottereau) is a comic from France who has fallen into a deep depression; he feels spiritually empty and his relationships with others are in tatters. Needing a break from his life, Julien travels to Mexico and ends up in Chacahua, a fishing village along the southern coast. As Julien seeks solace in Mexico, he strikes up a friendship with Pablo (Pablo Lopez), a fisherman who helps him find a new spiritual path through days on the water and a ritual involving mud. El Calambre was an official selection at the 2010 Rotterdam International Film Festival.
