Tim Holt has no less than two above-average leading ladies in Dude Cowboy: Marjorie Reynolds and Louise Currie. And even comic sidekick Lee "Lasses" White finds romance of sorts in the person of Broadway comedienne Helen Holmes. Unfortunately, the supposedly comic by-play between the two august performers, added to no less than four songs by Ray Whitley, tends to slow down the pace of this Western to a crawl. There is a climactic shootout in a cave, but Holt obviously deserved better and got it a few years later when RKO replaced White and Whitley with Richard Martin and awarded the series much tauter scripts.
