Synopsis by Janiss Garza

With the help of Victor Mordant (Harry Van Meter), the callous Marcus Gard (Frank Keenan, who also directed) has helped ruin many a man, including one named Marteen. Marteen's widow (Kathleen Kirkham), however, has fought back. She blackmails Gard, who has no choice but to take it. When he calls her soulless, she counters by pointing out that he isn't any better. They begin to get romantically involved, while Mrs. Marteen's daughter, Dorothy (Kate Van Buren) falls for Mordant's son Teddy (Jay Belasco). Mordant wants Teddy to stay away from Dorothy and does what he can to stop their romance. Mrs. Marteen angrily heads over to Mordant's home, but his first wife (Gertrude Claire) -- who has just escaped from an insane asylum -- is already there. She murders her husband just before Mrs. Marteen's arrival. Gard arrives shortly after Mrs. Marteen and believes she is the murderer. But Mrs. Mordant is found wandering around the house, and she freely admits to the crime.
