Vitagraph made this picture in conjunction with the American Bankers' Association to promote thrift and encourage saving, as opposed to investing. Whether it succeeded as entertainment is questionable. Lillian Brandt (Lillian Walker) has a miser for a father and works as the secretary to a rich woman. She goes to Washington to see how money is made (these scenes were actually shot at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing). She also meets with banker Frank A. Vanderlip of the National City Bank (also a real banker, and a real bank). A grafter is selling stocks in a phony corporation and one of the members of this "company" murders Lillian's father. In the end the murderer is brought to justice. The documentary-like shots of real people and places are the most interesting aspects of this picture.
