This award-winning film by Laurent Chevallier documents percussionist Mamady Keita's 1991 return to his home village of Balandugu, in Northern Guinea, West Africa, after years of living in Brussels, Belgium. Keita is the world's foremost player of the djembe, a distinctive African drum. Highlights of this joyful program include a review of Keita's life and career, as well as music from Keita and his band, Sewa Kan, which has five percussionist singers and a woman dancer/singer.
