Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein

J.P. McGowan, a veteran of low-budget action fare, both directed and starred in Discontented Wives, which, despite its title, was a lusty gold mine melodrama. McGowan played John Gaylord, a prospector whose discontented wife (Fritzi Brunette) loses her share of a rich strike to an unscrupulous Easterner (Jean Perry). Tricked into surrendering his rights as well, Gaylord fights the villain to the death. Alas, it was all a dream, and awakening, Ruth Gaylord realizes how much she loves her husband and resolves not to leave him after all. The former husband of serial star Helen Holmes, McGowan acted in and directed low-budget melodramas such as Discontented Wives well into the '30s.
