The Ming dynasty was the last Chinese-run overlordship of China until the 20th century. The Ming emperors were replaced in the 17th century by the "foreign" Manchus, a "non-Han" ethnic group from the far north of the country. In this martial arts movie, three heroic defenders of the Ming cause fight separately and together against the Manchu conquerors.
