Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
The unusual and true story of an Austrian conscientious objector is brought to the screen in this black-and-white film. Jagerstratter (Kurt Weinzier) is an earnest, clear-headed and likeable man, a devoted Catholic, and he strongly believes that the war is wrong. Although he knows it will result in his death, he refuses even to enter the medical service, which is the course recommended to him even by his Nazi judges. Such is his strength of character that he gains the respect of everyone who deals with him.
