The career of director Tom Forman was on the skids when he made this low-budget drama. Nevertheless, he had an excellent cast to work with here. Larry Bannon (Robert Ellis) is on a winning streak at a gambling house. This results in a fight and he is forced to kill a man in self-defense. Judge Casper Paine (Josef Swickard) sends Bannon to prison. When he is released, Bannon swears to get revenge and he hunts down Paine, who has retired because of illness and bought a mine. Bannon wins the trust of Paine and his pretty daughter, Helen (Barbara Bedford), and along the way discovers that Oberfield, the mine foreman (played by director Forman), is plotting to get ownership of the mine. Bannon, who falls in love with Helen, finally confesses his identity to Paine, who also discovers Oberfield's scheme. Bannon decides to go away, leaving Helen distraught. She goes to the mine in search of her father and water starts gushing in. Bannon comes to save her, but it looks like they will both be drowned. At the last minute, the pump starts working, saving them. In the end the couple are united. Forman's own real-life end was quite a bit darker; later on in 1926, he would kill himself with a gunshot through the heart.
