A veteran vaudevillian, Britt Wood had been awarded the comedy relief in a couple of Hopalong Cassidy Westerns, but his antics had not been welcomed by fans of the series. Here, he sings his own "Good Gracious Kate" and that is fine; but the comedy is of the most puerile sort and Wood is not helped by romantic leads John Daheim and Nancy Brinckman, neither of whom has much appeal. Happily, veteran character actor Fred Kelsey manages to liven things up a bit and there are a couple of well-made action sequences. But with Richard Talmadge, a veteran stunt man, and aerial specialist Harvey Parry behind the cameras -- not to mention stuntmen Daheim, Eddie Parker, and Kenneth Terrell in front -- Detour to Danger should have been much livelier than it is.
