One of the CBC's first regularly scheduled TV programs, Detective Quiz debuted September 10, during the first month of the Canadian network's existence. Host Morley Callaghan invited the home viewers to solve baffling mysteries, utilizing a series of dramatized clues. If the whole affair sounded like the pioneering American TV series Armchair Detective, it was probably no accident. Telecast live from Toronto, Detective Quiz lasted a mere three episodes, ending its run on September 24, 1952.
