Synopsis by Sandra Brennan
Quiet and tender, this Dutch drama follows a 13-year-old boy as he comes to grips with life's realities. For most of his life, he has spent his summers picking cherries at his grandparents' orchard. Normally a happy time, this year is different as his grandmother died just before the cherry season began. Once on the farm, he is further saddened to see that the pretty cousin he secretly loved is pregnant by a carnival worker. Much of the story centers on the boy's relationship with this grandfather. He also learns more about his grandmother by reading her diaries.
