From the studio that brought you Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The X-Files -- good old 20th Century Fox -- comes another young adult-oriented supernatural suspenser. The target audience is fairly obvious, but this witless, confusing offering doesn't have much of a furry leg to stand on. Long dialogue scenes, a wearingly TV-quality faux-orchestral score, and uninteresting characterizations limit this franchise to one. The few digital effects look as if they were shot directly from a video-game monitor, and Alfred Hitchcock heroine Tippi Hedren makes an appearance she shouldn't have, but come to think of it, she's the best thing in it. It's telling that Darkwolf didn't make Fox's TV network schedule -- any of them -- and got dumped into unsuspecting home viewers' laps without much fanfare.
