synopsis
Filmed on what looks like a budget of a Pound and Sixpence, the British quota-quickie Danny Boy stars young Grant Tyler as the title character. The product of a broken home, Danny is in the custody of his father, vaudevillian Carter (John Warwick). Danny's mother, Broadway star Jane (Ann Todd), returns to London in hopes of being reunited with her boy, but the embittered Carter has other ideas. Saving the film from drowning in its own treacle are the full-blooded comic performances by Wilfred Lawson as a seedy agent and Wylie Watson as an oddball pubkeeper. This Danny Boy bears no relation to any of the other films bearing that title.
