"It's Off the Couch!" Debuting September 17, 2006, as part of CBS's weekend-morning "Secret Slumber Party" children's block, Dance Revolution was a coproduction of CBS, Konami, AOL, and DIC Entertainment. Based on the Konami video game Dance Dance Revolution, this weekly live-action series featured aspiring dancers, all between the ages of 11 and 17, competing for a $20,000 scholarship by showing off their own special dance moves, then doing their darnedest to replicate some new moves taught them by choreographer Leah Lynette. CGI-generated flashing arrows, displayed on the TV monitors in the studio, enabled the kids to keep the beat. Each episode showcased two separate dance teams, one of them eliminated at the end of the program by a panel of celebrity judges and by technical judge Tricia Gomez, creator of the video game Hip Hop in a Box. Music on Dance Revolution was supplied by a house band, The Slumber Party Girls; and in deference to the "educational" edicts set down by the FCC, weekly tips on health and fitness were provided and approved by Baylor College of Medicine's Children's Nutrition Research Center. Serving as the series' host was D.J. Rick, a personality borrowed from AOL's Radio KOL.
