Synopsis by Clarke Fountain

The most notable feature of this film is that it was made shortly after the fall of the Shah of Iran, while the mullahs were consolidating their rule under the leadership of Ayatollah Khomeni. As the more conservative clerics had expressed disapproval of cinema, it is surprising that this film was made at all. The story concerns a schoolteacher who is helping his students put on a stage play. The Shah's secret police keep a close watch on all intellectual activities, and the teacher's play is no exception. One night, the teacher goes to visit one of his students, who has joined the underground movement to overthrow the Shah.
