Synopsis by Dan Pavlides

When a young boy's parents decide to divorce, he is sent to stay with his grandfather. The lad (Paul Bastek) comes to the home of the old man (Gunnar Lauring), a dispassionate and cynical soul. Legal wrangling over the title of the film plagued the production, which was initially begun in 1966. The editing was completed a day before the death of Gunnar Lauring. Although there is a happy ending in the Danish version shown here, multiple endings were filmed, leading one to believe there were more than a few problems with the final form and content.
