Criminal Investigator (1942)
by Hans J. Wollstein review

Criminal Investigator has something as unusual for its day as a female villain in blond Jan Wiley, a striking and capable actress who never quite made her way out of Poverty Row. Here she is menacing poor Edith Fellows, whose wide-eyed ingenuity is matched only by leading man Robert Lowery's blandness. It is no cinematic masterpiece that producer Lindsley Parsons serves up, we hasten to admit, but as breezy Grade-B entertainment, early '40s style, Criminal Investigator does pass muster.
