Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Future director Marshall Neilan essayed the title role in the four-reel Lasky production The Country Boy. Despite his promises to remain true to his hometown sweetheart Jane Belknap (Florence Dagmar), Tom Wilson (Neilan) falls hard for a sexy chorus gal named Amy Leroy (Dorothy Green). Even worse, Tommy Boy goes out on a toot during his first night in the Big City, squandering his bankroll at a saloon and gambling emporium. This being a comedy, Tom finally realizes that he's not temperamentally suited to life in the fast lane and scurries back to the arms of faithful Jane. The original stage production of Country Boy was distinguished by its witty dialogue, which was unfortunately (but necessarily) jettisoned for this silent film version.
