With Corpus Christi Bandits, Republic Pictures obviously wished to say something significant about the return to civilian life of World War II veterans, a topical subject at the time. A B-Western series entry was perhaps not the wisest choice, however, and apart from the wraparound, Corpus Christi Bandits is really no different from other Allan Lane oaters. Except, perhaps, that to convey his fall from grace, the otherwise meticulously attired Lane is briefly spotted in rather down-market western gear and sporting a five-o'clock shadow. He quickly returns to business as usual, of course, and so does Corpus Christi Bandits.
