When Corentin (Roland Giraud) marries a young woman, he is unable to consummate the marriage in this costumed comedy. He is threatened under church law with seizure of his property and annulment of the marriage unless he can consummate before the eyes of a prying public tribunal. The film is based on a true story from 17th-century France.
