synopsis
Lerone D. Wilson's documentary Colored Frames provides a feature-length assessment of a half-century of African American art, beginning in the late 1950s and extending through the first decade of the 21st century. Wilson chronicles his subject broadly, devoting equal time and emphasis to such thematic areas as the manifold sources of inspiration for black artists, the subjects of the works they created, their often tumultuous personal experiences and the impact of the Civil Rights Movement on African American art.
