Synopsis by Janiss Garza
Solid direction and a good performance from Jane Novak saves this all too typical Northwoods melodrama. Trapper Duncan Cameron, a Scotsman living in Saskatchewan, is a rigid and stern father. Both his daughters, Joan (Novak) and Esther (Charlotte Pierce), are afraid of him and he has no idea that Esther is in love with Jules Perrault (Ernest Shields). In addition, he wants Joan to marry factor Paul Bisson (J. Gordon Russell), whom she hates. While Cameron is away trapping, Esther runs off with Perrault, and Joan falls in love with Mountie Barry O'Neill (Edward Hearn). O'Neill has to return to headquarters with a prisoner but promises to come back for Joan, whom he knows only as Colleen. But when Esther shows up with a baby and claims that she has murdered Perrault, who never married her, Joan saves her sister by claiming the infant as her own. She leaves home, and O'Neill has to pursue her as an alleged murderer. It turns out, however, that Perrault is not dead after all; when he promises to do right by Esther, Joan is free to be with O'Neill.
