In yet another Japanese cartoon "first," this film lampoons the romance of Antony and Cleopatra, usually given a more solemn treatment. Aimed at the audience of Fritz the Cat, the filmmakers made this film to be X-rated, and included explicitly portrayed cartoon couplings to that end. Leering lampoonery and bathroom humor lighten this airy story, in which Julius Caesar is an old lech, Mark Antony is a pathetic dweeb, and Octavian and the young Ptolemy heir are flaming fairies. Photographic-style animation is interspersed with more clearly cartoonish drawings, and historical accuracy takes a back seat to pastiche, what with the film's use of guns, bombs, and automobiles to advance the storyline.
