Synopsis by Mark Deming
England's brave stand against Germany during World War II is the subject of this documentary short subject, which combines British combat footage, film seized from German forces, and American newsreel material to tell the tale of the Battle of Britain, in which the Royal Air Force, against heavy odds, staved off an invasion of Axis forces. Churchill's Island also examines the United Kingdom's war at sea and their valiant efforts to ward off German ships attempting to sink anything they could find in British waters. Lorne Greene narrates this version; a version prepared for distribution in France is narrated by Gerard Arthur.
