Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Like Humoresque, this picture focuses on the East Side Jewish ghetto of the early twentieth century. Sonya (Carmel Myers) emigrates from Russia to America to be with her father, a grocer (George B. Williams). But she has left her fiancé, Mischa Grossman (John Davidson), behind. She becomes an actress at a Yiddish theater and sends money to Mischa to help him with his medical studies. Eventually, when he makes it out to the States, it becomes clear that he is not worthy of her. Sonya becomes a star when there's a panic at the theater because of a boiler explosion and her singing calms down the panicky throng. Grossman disappears from the scene and Sonya winds up with the right guy, settlement worker David Dahlman (Allan Forrest).
