A woman who fights for a living also battles to stay true to herself in this adults-only drama from director Shine Louise Houston. Jessie Eaton (Syd Blakovich) is a female mixed martial arts fighter who is becoming a fast rising star in the fight game. But Jessie is as reckless outside the ring as in -- she's a lesbian with a strong promiscuous streak who likes rough and physical sex without being bothered with long-term relationships. Jessie's manager is trying to buff off the rough edges of her image in hopes of selling her to a larger audience and is trying to keep her sexuality under wraps, but that's becoming increasingly difficult as Jessie's former girlfriend Cathy (Jiz Lee) keeps trying to persuade her to give their relationship another chance. Jessie was once involved with a man named Bobby (Javier), and he's reemerged just in time to threaten to tell the press some secrets about her if he doesn't get what he wants. And while Jessie trains for her upcoming bout with Violet Vahn (Dallas), she feels compromised by the fact she's powerfully attracted to her opponent. Champion was an official selection at the 2009 San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival.
