A worker arrives at a factory in order to repair a machine before it is transported in director Alain Guiraudie's low-key drama. With only half-dozen employees whose future employment remains in question, the new worker experiences an intense attraction to his elusive but alluring boss as his drab surrounding result in a strong bond among the hapless workers. With uncompromised, low-key eroticism fueling a sincere study in generational gaps and homosexual relationships, the mechanic gradually learns to function despite the delicate relationship with his boss and feelings of inability to take hold of one's own fate.
