Franco Zeffirelli directed this lavish staging of Mascagni's opera about live among the poor in Sicily on an Easter Sunday. Produced to celebrate the centennial of the La Scala Opera, Cavalleria Rusticana stars Placido Domingo and Elena Obraztova, with Georges Pretre conducting the La Scalla Opera Orchestra.
