Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein
Independent producer Phil Goldstone teamed minor action star William Fairbanks (no relation to Doug) with flaxen-haired Dorothy Revier in half a dozen action adventures, several of them westerns. In Call of the Mate, one of the oaters of the group, saloon-belle Revier takes a bullet intended for Fairbanks and, with what appears to be her dying breath, persuades him to marry her so her little daughter will have a parent. She recovers, of course, leaving him to explain the situation to his sweetheart. The daughter was played by the real-life offspring of the film's director, Alvin J. Neitz (AKA Alan James).
