Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

Filmmaker Joseph Parlagreco follows the efforts of a transgendered seminary student to finally come to terms with his own sexual and spiritual identity while traveling across the country to connect with other transgendered individuals who may be experiencing the same feelings of alienation and desperation that nearly claimed his life. The child of strict conservative Christian parents, Malcolm was raised with two older brothers, and grew up as a girl named Miriam. Frustrated by the lack of support from both his church and community, Miriam enrolled at Iliff Theological Seminary in order to reconcile his spiritual life. And the unquestioning support Miriam received there would have a profound impact on his turbulent life. Now in his final year at Iliff and undergoing the final steps of his gender transition, Miriam adopts the name Malcolm, and steps out of his comfort zone to speak with other transgendered individuals about their life experiences.
