A utility worker becomes a burlesque dancer, much to the dismay of her ailing father, whom she is trying to support financially. Her troubles grow further complicated as she becomes increasingly immersed in the lifestyle; her lover abandons her after hearing she has unexpectedly become pregnant, and she agrees to starring in a lavish stage production oblivious to the harm it may pose to her unborn child.
