This series looks at major changes that have occurred in medical, technical, and social issues over the past few years. ABC news anchor Ted Koppel is host for the programs, assisted by correspondent Robert Krulwich. In Brave New World: What Is Family? Defining the Tie That Binds they explore the redefinition of the term "family" as they interview the Van Dries, who have 14 children. Of the 14, only three are their biological offspring. However, despite the diverse economic and social backgrounds of the adopted children, the family unit is intact, and the parents rise to the daily challenges.
