Synopsis by Mark Deming

The American Ballet Theatre is one of the most prestigious dance companies in the world, and meeting the high standards required to join the troupe is no small accomplishment. Born to Be Wild: Leading Men of the American Ballet Theatre is a documentary which looks at four of the ABT's principle male dancers -- Jose Manuel Carreno, Angel Corella, Vladimir Malakov, and Ethan Steifel -- and explores the different paths which brought them to the summit of American classical dance. The film also includes extensive footage of the dancers in performance.
