Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Comedienne Dorothy Gish plays the title character, who shines shoes in a British inn. Bored of reading bad romance novels, she decides to put some excitement into her life and gets involved with a group of anarchists. The anarchists (who are unrealistically portrayed here as refined, upper-middle-class people) are planning an assassination. But Boots uncovers the plot by falling through a floor to find the secret agents planting a bomb. A fierce battle ensues in which Boots wins the day by foiling the murder plans. Richard Barthelmess plays the film's love interest, the Scotland Yard detective who needs Boots to help him solve the case.
