synopsis
Adolf Dymsza plays both title roles in the Polish musical comedy Bolek and Lolek. It's a standard mistaken-identity confection, as the close resemblance between Lolek Charkiewicz and Bolek Cybuch causes confusion and consternation among their friends, relatives and sweethearts. The fun really begins when city-slicker Lolek falls in love with wealthy Marysia (Alina Zeliska), while country-bumpkin Bolek falls for housemaid Krysia (Janina Wilcz). The film takes every opportunity to utilize Adolf Dymsza's considerable musical talents, most memorably during a folk-festival scene. By accident or design, Bolek and Lolek was released in the U.S. not long after the similar Laurel & Hardy comedy Our Relations.
