With their reputation as deadbeat dog owners extending over the Atlantic, Bob and Margaret are frantic to be reunited with William and Elizabeth, but public opinion is so virulent they're afraid to return. When all attempts to contact Bob's family end in aggravation or humiliation, a neighbor connects them to his brother-in-law, Tom Pickersgill, who works for the Canadian government. Pickersgill is only too happy to help, provided Bob and Margaret emigrate to Canada and put their professional skills to use for Canadian government programs. Bob and Margaret are incensed at the idea, but when they begin to fantasize about how much more successful they could be in Canada (and their lack of friends in England), they begin to reconsider. Pickersgill forces the issue when he has the dogs rescued and brought to Canada. (Originally aired June 6, 2001.)
