Synopsis by Elizabeth Smith
Roy Book Binder was taught how to play the blues by Pink Anderson and other legendary bluesmen. He has performed with such artists as Bonnie Raitt, Ray Charles, and B.B. King. Binder also enjoys touring on his own, acquainting audiences with his brand of hillbilly country blues. On this tape, Binder teaches students how to handle runs, slides, pull-offs, hammer-ons, and several of his favorite licks. He also demonstrates open-string techniques, turnarounds, damping, and endings. Binder helps viewers learn how to play both "Black Dog Blues" and "Hesitation Blues." These traditional blues techniques provide students with a strong foundation for learning other blues styles.
