Synopsis by Hal Erickson

On shore leave in Mexico, Popeye makes a beeline to a local cantina, where his girlfriend Olive Oyl is working as a dancer (with spittoons on her feet). The festivities are interrupted by the arrival of Bluto the Bandit and his gang. After a few give-and-take gags in which Popeye and Bluto demonstrate their macho, the burly bandido tries to "have his way" with Olive, forcing Popeye to deliver the punch heard 'round the world. The racial-stereotype gags in this one go far beyond mere political correctness, but one can't deny that some of them are quite funny. The first "Popeye" cartoon to use the familiar theme song in the opening credits, Blow Me Down! was later excerpted in the 1936 "cheater" I'm in the Army Now.
