Synopsis by Hal Erickson
This PBS documentary addresses the ethical questions raised by modern science's newest life technologies. Genetic testing, fertility drugs, combining human and animal cells, animal-organ transplants, sperm donations...Are all of these beneficial to humankind, or do they create more problems than they solve? The documentary details specific matters of legalities, covert experimentation and "mutated" lab results arising from these scientific advances. Narrated by Andre Braugher, Bloodlines: Technology Hits Home was funded in part by the Ethical, Legal, and Social Issues division of the U.S. Department of Energy Human Genome Program.
