Blazing the Western Trail (1945)
by Hans J. Wollstein review

An average B-Western, Blazing the Western Trail is greatly enlivened by several numbers performed by Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys, including "Ida Red" and "Goodbye Liza Jane." Tex Harding croons "Time Changes Everything" and Dub Taylor is given a romantic interest this time, in the person of lovesick old maid Virginia Sale. The story is as old as "them thar hills," and Charles Starrett is his usual overly stoic self, but director Vernon Keays keeps the pace lickety-split throughout. The wonderful Alan Bridge -- his raspy voice perhaps the most distinctive west of the Mississippi -- once again makes a fine villain.
